Dernwood Farm - wild campsite and home produced meats

We are small family run farm in the heart of the Sussex Weald near Heathfield. We produce our own beef from our pedigree herd of Sussex cattle and our pork is bred from traditional breeds such as the Saddleback, crossed with the Large Black, we now also have a small herd of Southdown sheep.  A selection of all our meat is available to pre-order when you book or to buy from our shop during your stay.  Our popular Adopt-a-piglet scheme is running again this year for the ultimate is provenance and traceability, know your pig from birth to bacon!

We also save a field in the middle of 70 acres of ancient woodland for those who enjoy a bit of Wild Camping with open fires. For 2012 we have our upgraded Bell Tents in private clearings with woodburning stoves and toilet and shower facitlites, and right at the top of the camping scale we have our new Safari Tent, in a large sunny glade in exclusive 8 acres of woodland,  3 bedrooms, wood burning range, hot shower, state of the art composting toilet, you really couldn't ask for anything more!

Breck Falconry is running at the farm again in 2012 and we will have more free displays throughout the year.

Cool Camping Guide voted us one of the Top 10 Campsites in England! We are obviously delighted with the great review in the third edition of this camping bible, but don't worry, we wont let it go to our heads, the site will remain as quiet and chilled out as it always has been with campfires crackling and sausages sizzling!
